We believe that the church's involvement in politics begins with prayer. We are commanded to pray for all who are in authority. We pray for individuals in all branches of government and at all levels. We pray for God to bestow wisdom on our current leaders. We pray for God to raise up Godly men and women to hold these offices in the future. We pray for a political atmosphere conducive to the spread of the Gospel. We know that we as the church must first and foremost become serious about praying and fasting for the country in which we live and for the world.
This is an hour where attacks against Christianity are becoming more and more pronounced. We feel that the church would be very unwise not to seek God about how He would have us to be involved in standing up against the schemes of the Godless. We applaud and pray for all of the Godly men and women who take a stand by looking to run for office, seeking positions as judges, fighting legal battles for righteous causes, etc. We applaud those who peacefully demonstrate against corruption, sin and attempts by the government to implement policies that will hinder free Christian expression such as bans on prayer and evangelistic activities. We thank God for many who are working for organizations that expose and provide a basis for refuting unbiblical ideas that are taught to our children in government-sponsored schools such as evolution and the morality of same-sex marriage. This is a time for all Christians to vote for Godly candidates and speak up against unbiblical laws, such as legal abortion, whenever the opportunity arises.
Let the church sleep no longer. The freedoms we have to peacefully but actively stand against the tide of sin in our nation, to teach our children the truth and to simply continue to exist as a church that is free to carry out its mission are eroding daily. We have hidden ourselves from the culture or mimicked the culture rather than standing amidst it in stark contrast to it. We are at the point that the opposition to Christ sees its chance to grab power in our nation and silence our voice. We have the truth. We have a God that is for us. Let us wake up, be united and pray and fight for revival in this nation.
Due to our convictions, our church is not organized as a corporation that legally cannot speak in support of a candidate in the political arena. We may, as we feel God leading, attempt to garner support for particular candidates or measures that appear on the ballets from time to time. The criteria for taking such a position would depend on Godly ideals that are stated and proven in the candidates's character and stands on issues. Measures which we support would also need to pass a similar criteria. We in no way require our members to vote a certain way or support a certain candidate. These are matters of personal conviction. However give prayerful consideration and cast your votes as you truly feel God is leading. It is to Him that we will answer.
