The guiding values of a church determine many things about the way church life develops. They will be repeated often by the leaders in times of teaching. They will determine what the agenda of church meetings will be. They will have a tangible impact on the environment in which relationships form and thrive. We know that the key values of a church will often be a deciding factor when a person is praying about whether God would have them belong to that body.
This page is devoted to stating the values that Homeward Bound considers to be our God-given key values. This will, in essence, be the DNA that will guide our future and determine what sets us apart from other churches. These are not intended to state the most important precepts of Christianity, which we and most other churches agree upon, but rather to state what it is that may make us different from churches that otherwise share our core doctrines. Prayerfully read our list and ask God if this is the type of fellowship where you belong.

Values that Set Us Apart:
- Fostering loving, caring interpersonal relationships. People in the cells know each other and matter to one another.
- Seeking the power of the Holy Spirit to manifest in every believer to minister to one another healing of body, soul and spirit and to glorify Christ to the world.
- Prioritizing small group meetings as the center of church life, while utilizing larger meetings as God directs for congregational worship and/or evangelistic revival meetings.
- Avoiding legalism and judgmentalism when it comes to people's personal convictions, while standing firm against sin, as clearly identified in the Bible.
- Utilizing all forms of praise and worship found in the Psalms (including singing, raising/clapping hands, dancing, shouting, etc). Seeking the presence and tangible glory of God during times of praise and worship.
- Keeping families together in church life.
- Using monetary gifts to meet real needs in people's lives. Keeping church overhead low (by avoiding getting into building programs, for example). Not manipulating people to get money from them.
- Seeking community transformation by prayer and fasting for revival and by inviting unity with other congregations and pastors in the area.
- Growing and extending this ministry to nearby communities and to other parts of the country and the world as God makes a way.
